I love the “bigot” angle given that Leia was an OG “strong female” character from the 80’s and is beloved by all Star Wars fans.
But she was in a slaaaave bikini costume, which sexualized her!! -
The same folks who say that about Leia will totally ignore the cringe scene of Ohsha ( or was it FEMA? Don't care) spying on Qimir as he unrobed and went for a dip. Full on lady porn aka clit lit. Worthy of 50 Shades of Gray.

Acolyte was heavily marketed and was geared towards all ages.
Andor was pretty much an adult-oriented spy thriller in the SW universe.
A niche show found a niche audience
Disney spent more on a niche show than an event show with the full marketing run.
Really makes you wonder why anyone of us here would consider the budget of these shows interesting relative to quality and popularity, since these three ideas clearly do not correlate. Which was my point.

You have to make a conscious effort to avoid writers that love and respect Star Wars in order to produce the crap Disney has put out.
They are focused on cosmic justice in their casting of writers
I know I said casting. I meant what I said/

Reloaded was good
Reloaded was too overloaded with set pieces to where it had an ending that the next film spent half of its run time trying to unfrick.
If they had cut out about half an hour of screen time and plotted a better way to handle the ending, Revolutions wouldn’t have failed so hard.

Never made it past the first episode. Hedland is insufferable and the lead was, too. I can't reward that sort of retardation fricking up SW.
They really need to sell SW and Marvel to folks who actually love the source material and will do it justice.
Andor & S1 of the Mandalorian are the only things Disney has done right.

On season 1
Season 2 cost less than the Acolyte
And how is that a 'win'?
The production cost of the series "Andor" was approximately *$650 million for its two seasons, making it one of the most expensive series produced by Disney. This budget covered a total of 24 episodes released between 2022 and 2025.
27 million $ is 2x Godzilla Minus One PER EPISODE. A theatrical released project that won an Academy award. Don't try to sell me that Andor is soooo superior. Hell, it's the most expensive Disney SW thing EVER! And for what?
*Disney Spent More On ‘Andor’ Than Any Of Its ‘Star Wars’ Movies

Disney has revealed today that it spent $60.5 million (£47.9 million) on Star Wars streaming series Andor in 2024 ahead of the debut of its second season in April this year giving the show a total cost of $705.5 million (£552.7 million) which was within the budget but still far higher than the spending on any of the movies in the sci-fi saga.

Regardless of how much Andor cost or the Acolyte cost, Andor makes me want to watch more Star Wars, and even go to the movies if it was more like that. Andor makes me want to be a paying Star Wars customer in the future.
The Acolyte makes me not want to spend another dime on anything Star Wars related, much like the The Last Jedi did for me, which is why i didn't spend money to go to the movies and see Solo, or Rise of Skywalker.

See, that right there is part of the problem. YOU don't care, which means, theoretically, there's no incentive for Disney to reign in any costs, all they care about is bumping up the membership fees because lemmings will continue to pay.
'Oh, but Andor is soo good!'
OK, but there's also Acolyte, Willow, and the rest of the crap shows being rolled out, that don't warrant their production.
And Andor will never come close to paying for itself. There's not going to be a massive merch or Blue Ray income flow.

Cost less?
705 million for 2 seasons.
C'mon.
* And did you miss this part?
Disney has revealed today that it spent $60.5 million (£47.9 million) on Star Wars streaming series Andor in 2024 ahead of the debut of its second season
That info just dropped, so whatever you may think Disney spent for S2, add $60 million more.
Still impressed?

One day someone will make bank on a documentary on how in the hell Disney fricked up a franchise this huge

I hope they uncover the money laundering that's clearly been taking place not just at Disney but all of Hollywood.

So your point is that because S2 only cost 60 million, the fact that the 2 seasons combined cost 705 million isn't relevant?
OK, you win.
Happy?
