Was scrolling through YouTube tv and saw Purple Rain on vh1. I’ve always wanted to watch the movie so I checked it out somewhere in the middle of the movie.
What the hell is this? Prince just slapped this woman after she just gave home the white cloud guitar.
Soundtrack is top notch though

Don't listen to everyone else. I'll defend this film forever. Purple Rain is awesome. It's the best "musical" you'll ever watch.
Is Prince a mediocre/bad actor... Yes.
Was he awesome in the movie... Yes.
The music sequences are some of the best ever put on film. The opening 5 minutes is just an incredible music video sequence.
Morris Day is awesome. The club is awesome.
The ending is actually incredibly emotional. Purple Rain is simply the best movie soundtrack album ever and one of the most iconic rock/pop albums of all time. Purple Rain is also a top 10 pop songs ever written.

Movie was good. I was a big fan of Prince. Saw him with Morris Day and The Time with Vanity Six in concert back in the day.

If you haven't watched Tales from the Tourbus, it's fantastic, and there is an episode on Morris Day that you would probably like. It's Mike Judge so there are some laughs.

I'll defend Prince. Motherfricker is a musical genius to me. I know the words to a lot of his songs. I listen quite often.
I met this chick on match whom I found out was a die hard fan. Even had a tramp stamp in his honor.
She made it very clear she wasn't fricking on the 1st date. Cool, I'm patient....I can wait 2 dates.
She mentioned Prince and she was so shocked of all the songs and lyrics that I knew. She invites me over and we get high, turn on Prince.....and got into it

I like the movie- but take it for what it is. It's a pop star who made a movie in the middle of the 80's, at the peak of his success. It's ridiculous, but in a good way.

Also- did you know Purple Rain had a sequel? It's called Graffiti Bridge is was written, directed by and starring Prince, and it's AWFUL.

The fascination is that he released an entire album and turned it into a movie
It was the first of its kind in that he did an entire movie soundtrack and acted in the movie himself
