People always talked by 1994 as the best year for movies, but 1982 is really up there.

You forgot Tron and The Dark Crystal.

Most importantly however you forgot Beastmaster!

I hate myself now. I wasn't alive during this year and I was going off memory, but I hate myself. Tron is amazing.

I'm partial to 1984.

Seriously, check out all those movies we love.

And 1984 might be the greatest year in Pop Culture history.

Albums released:

“Jump” by Van Halen
“Purple Rain” by Prince
“Thriller” by Michael Jackson

Apple Computer’s famous ad “1984” launches the Macintosh computer line.

Hulk Hogan defeats The Iron Sheik to win his first World Wrestling.

Sony and Philips introduce the first CD players.

The Cosby Show and Miami Vice debut on prime time television.

These shows were also on TV:

Dukes of Hazzard
Magnum, P.I.
Hill Street Blues
The Fall Guy
Cheers
Family Ties
Knight Rider
A-Team

I see two all-time great movies (Blade Runner and ET) and a bunch of good but not great movies in that list. Definitely not up there with 1994 or 2007 for that matter.

Jump is a song, not an album and Thriller was released in 1982. So 1 out 3 ain’t bad

You’ve posted that about Thriller before and it’s been corrected before

Thriller is the sixth studio album by American singer Michael Jackson, released on November 30, 1982

But people just say Jump.

The 26th Annual Grammy Awards were held on February 28, 1984, at Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, and were broadcast live on American television. They recognized accomplishments by musicians from the year 1983.

Thriller was the biggest seller for both 1983 and 84. But really it dominated 83. Billie Jean and Beat It were monster hits in 83, the video for Thriller was released in Dec 83. It’s an album for 83.

Purple Rain, Born in the USA. Those are the albums that remind me of 1984

That’s really interesting that the song Thriller was released in 1984, since the album Thriller was released in 1982 and the video Thriller was released in 1983

Anyway, you said albums released not songs, if you meant songs fine, all 3 you listed were songs, but you said albums sorry for being a stickler

And you know I mean't this iconic album:

Of course I know what album you meant but I was just messing with you but I literally have never heard anyone refer to Jump as the name of album the song Jump is on Some what ironic since you are touting the year 1984 given the name of that Van Halen album

BTW i Agree 84 is a better movie year than 82. Neither was close to 1994 in terms of quality though

94 is still the best to me. i really like the diversity.

lots of good comedies in 94 aside from the higher rated movies.

This is Spinal Tap
Splash
Police Academy
Romancing the Stone
The Bounty
Sixteen Candles
The Natural
Firestarter
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Once Upon a Time in America
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
Ghostbusters
Gremlins
Top Secret!
The Karate Kid
Bachelor Party
Cannonball Run II
Conan the Destroyer
The Last Starfighter
The Muppets Take Manhattan
The NeverEnding Story
Revenge of the Nerds
Purple Rain
Red Dawn
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension
Amedeus
1984
The Terminator
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Oh, God! You Devil
Beverly Hills Cop
Dune
Starman

All subjective. 1994 is top heavy, but overall not the best year.

I would actually take 97 over 94 for example.

Overall the best is subjective of course but I couldn’t disagree more about being top heavy. It’s the depth that makes 94 so special. 97 is great though

It’s really tough to pick one single year. But do we all agree that 2007 is the most recent great year?

No Country for Old Men
There Will be Blood
Zodiac
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Into the Wild
Superbad
Knocked Up
Gone Baby Gone
Hot Fuzz
The Bourne Ultimatum
Atonement
American Gangster
300
Charlie Wilson’s War
Juno
3:10 to Yuma
Michael Clayton
Before the Devil Knows Your Dead
