What is he meaning the "politics of casting"??

Making sure that you have the correct racial, gender, and sexual orientation representation.
Making sure that no one cast has a racist or misogynist history of any kind.
Making sure that any conservative cast members have kept silent on their political leanings.

Ok, well I agree with having the correct race because while I don't want James Bond or Superman to be race lifted, i don't want movies where Egyptians or Middle Easterners are played by white people. Unless those white people are supposed to be Ptolemaic Greeks or something.

If you are going for a total fantasy, multi race take like Thor or something then ok, otherwise don't sell me an Australian as an African by putting makeup on him/her.

Hollywood is so backwards.

Your other two points are valid and agreed with.

Maybe I wasn't clear. When I say correct representation, I don't mean Egyptians playing Egyptians. I mean that in any movie, no matter where it is set, you have to have a multi-racial, multi-gender, multi-sexual-orientation cast. You can't have a Robin Hood movie with just straight white people. You can't have a movie about Mary Queen of Scotts with just straight white people.

Ok, I understand and mostly agree.

However the flip side of that is when they include a black person or other person of color in a King Arthur movie, a Greek myth movie, or historical movie like Dunkirk, the automatic reaction a lot have is that it is only being done for political correctness.

Sometimes this is the case but other times the original mythological text INCLUDED these characters. In the case of a historical film, directors like Nolan chose to acknowledge the different factions who have been omitted by previous films.
