“Who the hell thought it a good idea to put Watership Down on Easter Sunday? ‘Hey kids let’s watch dead Easter bunnies!’” wrote one distressed Twitter user, with others confirming that it is “still terrifying” for adults too.

Why did the parents let their kids watch it?

I somehow knew this would be in the UK. They have very different ideas of what is appropriate for basic TV

They are way ahead of the liberal game across the pond

You can pretty much look at their culture of what's wrong and whats right, and that's what this country will be like in 25 years

I don't think the station really did anything wrong.

I think the parents just went tharn.

Our Puritan roots aren't eroding anytime soon, by and large. England hasn't had such roots since Cromwell was in charge.

My kids watched it with us each Easter.

We also gather around to watch Bad Santa before going to Christmas midnight mass.

That's us though.

GOAT book. I've never seen the movie. I'd consider it okay for anyone above first or second grade level. If your kid is younger than that, they shouldn't have unrestricted TV access anyway.

I wouldn't let a teenager watch Watership Down, much less a child. I'm an adult and it still gives me nightmares. That show is fricked up.

I had never heard of this...just watched the trailer and a few clips of the violence. Wow!

Great book.

Solid movie, but no way my kids would be watching that on Easter Sunday.

That's so inappropriate.

Easter is a time for family. That's why my wife and I sit down and watch Donnie Darko with the kids.

Watership Down hadn't been on US tv in decades.

Is this the movie about the two dogs that escape the animal testing facility and all of the locals freak out because they might be contaminated with the plague?

Or is this the movie about the cat detective that moves into the new house where every day there is a new series of cat murders and each dream that the cat has helps clue him into the case of the murderer?
