It could also be to "explain" why somebody doesn't chime in saying "hold up, I have kevin's ticket, where is kevin" or something like that.

I refuse to believe that the McAllisters are not only the most abhorrent group of individuals living under one roof, but also drink (that is, fill solo cups with milk and leave them on the counter while they eat at the table) milk with their pizza. Too much crazy; breaks the dream sequence.

Kevin's Mom clearly says "make sure you drink all the milk" when they got the pizzas because they were going on a long trip and the milk would spoil. DUH
