Solid film and one of the last of its kind. I doubt very seriously we will ever see war films like it again. It had an all-star cast, production values that put even some of the most acclaimed war films of all-time like Saving Private Ryan to shame, and they did it all without CGI.

Another good Michael Caine war flick, “The Eagle has Landed,” is also on YouTube. It also has Larry Hagman playing an idiot Colonel.
I think “Battle of Britain” is on there, too.

Cornelius Ryan GOAT
The Longest Day was also fantastic, both book and movie.

My friend’s father was a consultant on that movie, particularly for the Waal River crossing. He was played by John Ratzenberger (Cliff from Cheers) in the movie I also saw him last week watching a documentary about the Battle of the Bulge, where he singlehandedly tookout a Panzer tank with a sticky bomb. He gave commentary in a couple segments. He was also in Operation Market Garden. Amazing man - the most decorated officer of the 82nd Airborne. Died in 2020 at age 103. He had such an amazing presence even at that age - when he spoke, you knew you were in the presence of greatness. I first watched A Bridge Too Far after reading his book.
