Seen was sad/intense cuz they grew up together. Bodie seemed like he had 2nd thoughts, hands trembling until Poot said do it. Dont think Poot liked doing it as well but he had to put his boy out of misery.
And they saw the potential brutality of their employers with what happened to Brandon. Poot seems like a straight up guy
*SPOILER WARNING*
maybe not the warrior we see in Bodie, but a straight up guy, nonetheless
*END SPOILER*
- and I guess that Poot was thinking, "Better us than strangers that DGAF about Wallace."
That's how growing up in that environment could cloud your thinking.

Okay so I forgot about this thread. I decided to give The Wire another chance and I'm fricking glad I did. I started earlier this week and now I'm halfway through season 4. God. Damn. This show is awesome.
Now that that's out of the way I can read this thread and discuss the episodes as planned. I'm going to finish this series up tomorrow or Tuesday and maybe even rewatch again. I know there's some stuff I'm missing because I'm watching while I paint.

It took me forever to realize where I recognized the actor that plays him from (did a rewatch about 4 months back, but check out the thread because it's my favorite show).
About halfway through 13 Hours it finally hit me. Dude is great as Zeke in The Brink

Episode 13: "Sentencing
Do you all think most cops in Kima shoes would just name WeeBey, being most know he was the 2nd shooter.
Dropped quarter million to bail out Avon and have to bail the rest. Own the funeral home, drop bodies and get paid to bury them. String running shite out the local FedEx and taunting Jimmy at the courthouse.
Dee singing like a canary, tired of the game and ready to get out of B-More. Until his Mom got to him
Jimmy pounding that arse in the parking garage, then crying like a baby about Kima though. All those suits, Jimmy has no filter telling it like it is.
Daniels educating Carver sorry arse about being police, the police side of its all in the game. Carver and Herc are shitty police imo. Daniel losing his Major slot is fricked up, got beat by politics.
Weebey don’t give a frick at all, taking all the bodies for an extra Sammy lol.
Bodie and Poot running the Pit. Bodie is fricking awesome.
Bubz and Johnny back to their capers trying to get high.
Jimmy must have forgotten about Lester’s advice about not telling them where he wants to go. Surprised Lester would work for Rawls knowing he can be an arse. And of course Lester protecting and serving Shardeen, big pimpin.
Prez got his gun back, omg
Omar takes NY, the cheese stands alone – for sure

Without giving away too much, Carver probably has the greatest transformation from poor cop to good cop over the course of the series.
Not sure if you are a first time watcher or not.

Not a 1st timer....
And I was just going by what I see so far so not to give anything away. But yeah, he gets better.

But D knows Avon and Stringer will kill him, that's why he tells Avon to leave him be. He could give it to Wallace straight, rather than just hint to him he should go back to school or something.
I go back and forth about this point, whether D knows that they will 100% kill Wallace. I mean if you think about they didn't even talk to Wallace to feel him out or find out his story or do any background, they decided things are going bad right now, Wallace is an insignificant "pawn" in the game, so Wallace got to go. Either way this is symptomatic of Dee's shortcomings in the game and what Avon tried to warn him about when he went to visit his uncle, being too late to see something or do something can be deadly.
I think if Dee really thought they were going to clean up like that I think he would have warned Wallace to get out. Although in the end it probably wouldn't have done any good. The moment Wallace showed any weakness or liability, no matter how go a worker or soldier he was, he was done. Wasn't the first and without saying too much, many more players in the game will eventually see the same fate as Wallace, some for even more trivial reasons (edit: not saying snitching is trivial, but no one on the street knew he did that, essentially he was killed because he was "weak").

Sentencing: "sometimes it's got to play hard"
Got to respect Kima refusing to ID WeeBay, even though everyone "knows" it was him. Shows integrity in the corrupt world she works/lives in, to not cut corners. Also funny when Jimmy finally shows up and she wants to talk shop and her g/f gets pissed.
Can we finally agree D is weak? He's ready to sing to the cops and give everyone up to get out of the game, but caves and takes 20 years after his mom guilts him into it.
With all the shite he pulled and all the people he pissed off, was it taking the case to the Feds and then berating them what cost Jimmy the most? He makes some good points about the bodies and that the people on the west side live in "terror" but then undermines them by insulting everyone. It's not like the Feds didn't tell him from the get go that their priority was terrorism (this was less than a year after 9/11). He's a great cop and fighting some corrupt, bad officals in the dept, but in the end he is his own worst enemy. Seeming to enjoy being on a self destructive path.
Really telling how much the higher ups lack perspective, patting themselves on the back for this great case, but actually letting the top guys off light because they would not let the detail finish the job, so they can get some great photo ops and clearances.
Daniels outing Carver as the leak was great and him laying it out how the cops under him will do what he does. The obvious assumption that he gets the promotion because he helped Burrell was a great contrast with Daniels getting passed over.
Of course the final montage is excellent. We see Barksdale peeps going to jail, others moving up. Bodie running the pit like a boss and Poot giving a kid the same lecture D gave them about the money and drugs needing to be in different places. Stringer really taking over. With the cops we see some going up, Carver gets promoted, Lester back in homicide, Prez even gets his gun back and others going down, Jimmy to the boat, Santy walking a beat. And overall, its same old same old with drug trade rolling on.

Most seemed to be against breaking for a week.
I'm interested to see the discussions for S2 since it's so dividing.

I may just jump right in for S2 instead of trying to catch up. I don't know if I can go back and watch the Wallace scene (and I haven't since the first time I saw it). It fricks me up.
Or I may go back and watch it all this weekend.
I am looking forward to the S2 discussion. I know it gets a lot of hate but I always really liked it.
