This is going to be three way split with this movie. Those who go in angry, wanting to hate it and trash it will find plenty of material to do so with. Those who go in wanting to experience a fun Star Wars movie with great moments will find what they are looking for.
Then there are those who go in with a clean slate and just say give me whatever you and I’ll sort it all out myself and feel how I feel will feel satisfied, but not whole from it all.

God fricking awful movie

I wanted to go in liking this movie, but it was just an undeniable mess.
This movie made horrible creative decisions. From a narrative standpoint it's nonsensical. The pacing is wildly chaotic and random.
I guarantee you that anyone saying they liked this film can't answer basic questions about the plot. That's how bad it is. Nor do they want to, apparently. They get a few droid beeps and some blaster action and that's all it takes to approve of this garbage.

Same here, I said to myself there’s noway they’ll come close to messing it up after everything that’s happened so far. And they gave themselves opportunities for at least interesting choices and had moments where real consequences were possible. But in the end it was the same terrible movie it’s been since Disney took over. Same terrible dialog, same disjointed story and same predictable ending for everyone. The characters have the intellect of horror film characters, the writing is straight out of Buffy the vampire slayer and the universe has turned into WWE where everything is the exact same except bigger and “most ever” at every turn. We want to see expansions and differences in force power not the god like ridiculous things they keep coming up with. There’s no imagination only repetition on a grandiose scale. I won’t even delve into the PC or political messaging but that was also disgusting. Then there’s Rey, need I say more?

You can explain the plot in short and simple terms, it’s the details where it bogs down, they open doors and never go through them much like Damien Lindelof (I can’t spell the Lost writer’s name but that bastard) always does or the last couple of GoT seasons.
The real problem is not having a set plan for each movie. I get not having all the details set but they should have done what Fiege does with the MCU, tells the writers/directors this what you can do, what you need to do, and this is what you can’t/don’t need to do and let them fill in their own blanks. They took a good opening movie in the trilogy, let Rian Johnson shite on it and then told JJ to fix it while throwing all kinds of cooks in the kitchen and hacking it all up.
I really want to hear what all was in the Lucas cut. Apparently that was by far the best tested version of the movie.

I thought they did a good job considering where TLJ left off. I LOVED that they drew from the shows and legends

Don’t you like how they feel the need to make the Falcon do flips and tricks even while doing the most menial and basic tasks like landing? It’s so absurd.

Seems like you went in wanting it to be horrible no matter what you saw and just paid attention to the poo and nothing else nor did you try to follow along.
Granted, it’s not a great movie by any stretch, nor a good one, but a horribly wretched one? Definitely not. I’m going to hold off on my official rating until I see it again, but I’d tentatively grade it somewhere around 5.5 or 6 out of ten. For comparison, I believe when my friends asked me about TLJ I said it was a 2/10 because I won’t rate any movie below a 1 and Snoke did have a bad arse robe so there was that.

Didn’t you like how a star destroyer just let some random ship land on it while they’re in full alert mode? Oh but I forgot Abrams used one of his famous “but I have this special blah blah blah that allows me to do anything” gadgets he comes up with everytime there’s a problem with his story. Not that it made sense even with the random gadget.

I went in wanting this franchise to be saved. This film destroyed it. And even if you step outside of the Star Wars box and assess it as a film...it's bad. The dialogue, pacing, and editing is all terrible.
And it's hard to follow along when basic occurrences in the plot make zero sense. Again, the entire military faction that the protagonists have been facing off against and battling for the last 2 films is still out there. Nothing they did in this film affected the First Order. The entire military is still out there at the end of the film. It was all just forgotten about.
The Emperor's motivations are all over the place. Wants Rey dead, wants Kylo dead, but then wants Rey to kill him so the "Sith spirits" haunt and possess her, then he discovers they're a dyad, which somehow restores "life force" so then he wants to return to power...it's laughable.
Rey inexplicably leaves to go find the dagger on the Star Destroyer despite the fact we just had a 10 minute scene where C-3PO was wiped so the inscription could be obtained from the dagger.
Rey cries and has a meltdown after thinking she killed Chewie and apparently can't sense he's still alive. But 15 minutes later she conveniently senses that he's present on the Star Destroyer.
Where did the Sith Empire come from? You had tens of thousands of people manning thousands of ships. Where the hell did any of this come from?
The list goes on. It just baffles me how bad all of this was. And this isn't even mentioning the abysmal creative decisions that were made.

But look on the bright side. Disney is going to throw so much Star Wars shite at us that some of it is bound to be good. Mando already is, for now. Since it's become a hit, I fully expect the suits to ruin it with their bullshite.

The Emperor’s plan was simple: Get Rey to him alive by any means and tempt her to the Dark side. If she won’t do it, then kill her and do it yourself (that’s the Sith way).
Kylo was never more than a means to an end for him. Palpatine didn’t give two shits about him or his fate until he stood with Rey in that arena.
And I already told you the First Order merged with the Sith Fleet to make the Final Order. There was a scene that spelled that out for you. Did you not notice Pryde went from Kylo’s destroyer to his own flagship on the Final Order either?
Rey went back for the dagger for another spelled out reason - when she touched it previously she had flashbacks and wanted to find out more about her past. Kind of wonky, I’ll give you that, but there was a purpose for her going back for it.
And your question about the Sith Fleet is easy. How did Republic first obtain a large army? What did the Emperor reveal about Snoke?
There are a lot of legitimate things to complain about in this movie (which I’ll get to at some point this weekend), but everything you mentioned is from you either not paying attention, not processing, or not remembering.

He literally told Kylo to kill Rey in TLJ. He literally told Kylo to kill Rey again at the beginning of this movie.

There were zero First Order craft in the final battle. It was all OT Imperial Star Destroyers. The First Order was spread out throughout the galaxy.

Saying it was wonky is certainly putting it mildly.

Where have we seen the Republic's "large army" anywhere in the ST?
The Emperor revealed that he was controlling Snoke the whole time. Meaning he wanted Rey dead. But then changes his mind at the end of this film.

How about that Chewbacca pump fake? The sole reason for them being there was to capture members of that group yet we’re led to believe some other random transport we never see went to the exact same spot to do nothing but land then return to the destroyer empty handed. I mean the idiotic things that went on constantly are just unbelievable.

Off topic but I don’t know why you shite on Solo so much. It was a fun movie, I enjoyed it. It wasn’t trying to be all epic and heavy handed like TLJ, it’s a nice popcorn flick and an easy going star wars movie.

TLJ was written Rian Johnson had no idea that Palpatine was coming back. Nor did he know how to write a competent story, but I’m not going down that road.
I do know that Palpatine didn’t tell Kylo to kill Rey, he told him to bring her to him.
The First Order ships were more than likely abandoned for the far superior Final Order ships. Why leave your troops on inferior warships? Who knows, maybe there are a few out there somewhere, but there is no leadership of any sort left for them so if any are out there, they’d probably disband anyways.
The Republic’s army was in Episode 2:AOTC
And you and I both know why there is that that discrepancy. Who Snoke is/was changed between each episode. You and I both know why too. In universe, yeah it’s not consistent. No argument there. But you and I both know why it’s not consistent.
