I think he's got the balls to somehow do/try it.
To me, his biggest fear was Walter. Looking back, especially on the season 5 DVD extra scene, he came over to Jesse's house to tell him about the 10 guys Mike had and what happened in prison. Gave Jesse a gun..dude was terrified of Walter.
With Walt gone, I don't know if the legal system really scares Saul. I would love seeing gene "say frick this Omaha shite".

Walt threatened Saul and only went along with everything because he feared for his life.

Not to mention that both "universes" do/did plenty of hand waving to advance various plots.
BREAKING BAD SPOILERS....
There's enough daylight to fashion a final Jimmy/Saul/Gene comes home coda, if the writers want. It wouldn't be any more implausible than the "chemistry teacher/part time car washer takes down the cartel and various rivals to become the premier meth cook and distributor before dying while mowing down a whole nest of heavily armed white supremacists, all within exactly two years" plotline that started the whole thing.

lol I agree, but the thing is..Walter didn't do it alone. He had help, and Saul was a huge part of that help. It counteracts my point by saying that, but also at the same time..to be such a large part of this crime syndicate, there isn't a lot that can prove he was.
He was walter's lawyer during a time of possible divorce. Laywer/client privilege may be a key part in that storyline. That $1 in the desert may still be a lot more than we know.

For those that say there is no evidence that Saul had outside help in BB. There may be and it already has some small connection to Kim.
Ice Station Zebra Associates.
In BB we see this name in two places. On Saul's commercials and also on a check to Skyler after he laundered money for them.
In BCS we have now seen it twice. Once when they conned the guy at the bar. They had him make the check out to Ice Station Zebra Associates.
The other reference to that name is when Kim and Jimmy sit down and watch a movie together. The name of that movie is Ice Station Zebra.
Kim may be running this operation for Saul which is a front for washing dirty money. Maybe she still has her own law office and Ice Station Zebra is owned by Saul but they hire Kim to cover it's tracks.

Said that to badger upon meeting him after arrest for posession with intent.

Do you remember exactly what was said? I have forgotten about that one.

So let's look at this chronologically.
BCS era
1. They watch the Movie Ice Station Zebra together.
2. It becomes inside joke and they have the guy make out the check to Ice Station Zebra Associates.
BB era
3. The name appears in Saul commercials as some sort of parent company or corporation.
4. He tells Badger to make check out to Ice Station Zebra Associates.
5. He writes Skyler the check made out from this company.
So somewhere between BCS and BB this name goes from an inside joke to being officially incorporated.
So I see two possibilities.
1. Him and Kim split and he is still using this joke because he misses Kim.
2. He and Kim turned this joke into an official company together in order to make a ton of cash.
Which one seems more likely?

Good work. I think this may have legs. Kim officially has a small connection to Breaking Bad now.

Ice Station Zebra Associates is the name of a holding company used by Saul Goodman for tax evasion. In the episode "Abiquiú", Skyler White decides to intervene in Saul and Walter White's money laundering plans in part because she was unimpressed when Saul presented her with a check from Ice Station Zebra Associates. Ice Station Zebra Associates is also seen in small print in the television commercials for Saul's law firm. In the Better Call Saul episode "Bali Ha'i," Kim and Jimmy run a con and convince a stranger at a bar to write a check for $10,000 to invest in their start-up tech company. The check, later shown at Kim's apartment, is written to Ice Station Zebra Associates. "Ice Station Zebra" is itself a 1963 Cold War intrigue novel, adapted in 1968 as a better-known film starring Rock Hudson and Ernest Borgnine. The movie itself appears in "Amarillo", watched by Saul (James McGill at the time) and Kim Wexler .

So just spit balling here.
Maybe Kim and Jimmy see the fortune they can make if Jimmy jumps into criminal defense and playing dirty. They know this money will be dirty just like Walt's. It will have to be cleaned up.
Kim the business attorney takes their inside joke and forms the parent company Ice Station Zebra Associates. She introduces other revenue streams into the parent company to wash the dirty money.
Saul handles the scumbags and she handles the parent company, both make out like bandits until Walt blows it all up.
This could make some sense. Jimmy/Saul doesn't know anything about laundering. When he tries to help Walt with it he's kind of a mess.
Kim on the other hand is in business law and probably understands these aspects very well. Saul would obviously need his money washed, so they create Ice Station Zebra Associates which Kim maintains.
This would also parallel BB nicely. Saul/Walt making cash. Kim/Skyler cleaning it up.

Have we seen proof that the Gene timeline is completely post BB? Remember that Walt was in New Hampshire for a few months prior to returning. Omaha isn't too far out of the way between New Hampshire and ABQ...

Just dropping in to say that the last episode was as good an ep as any from any show I've ever seen.
Gilligan is on another level. Dude has pulled it off again amazingly.

No. Not definitively, but Gene would have to have been hired as manager. Probably not enough time to work his way up through promotion.

Maybe. It depends on the backstory given to Saul by the vacuum repairman. Of course it's a lot easier to be hired as a manager if that particular Cinnabon franchise is owned by a member of the Ice Station Zebra Associates.

Yeah, it's totally possible they gave him a fake resume that could get him a managers job.
