maybe i just never noticed before. but i can't think of a time when they had planks to make shelters. always seemed like they used bamboo or sticks.

I remember them cutting trees or bamboo down. I don't remember seeing anything like this season before.

I've never noticed either, but I've also never paid close attention. They don't really focus on the shelter building part of the game much anymore anyway.

They had building supplies (including lumber) as rewards before. And as things that could be grabbed when abandoning ship.
There is a lot that goes on that gets cut out. A few seasons ago one tribe had a bunch of canned food. Apparently they won a reward that was edited out entirely.
The initial challenge on the beach this season was actually first to 5, but the Red tribe dominated so much that they cut out two matches entirely and had to dub in Jeff saying first to 3.

Yeah the big shift on this was after All Stars season when they realized the social aspect was better television. Every season after that they have played up the social/challenges (including finding idols and such) part of the game and downplayed the survival part.
But i do miss seasons like Africa where they had legit Lions an shite right outside their little area and had to be extremely careful.

I was telling my youngest daughter about that while we were watching Wednesday night. Way more survival in the beginning.

I need to amend this statement. I watched a couple of episodes of Parvati's first season last night(S13) and she's definitely top 3 in the show's history for me.

I just watch an interview panel with them. She was. She mentioned to Rob she was coming back and Rob didn't reveal anything stating he didn't want any information out there. Apparently some cast members were trying to make pre-game alliances before the game started. Maybe that's why the Poker alliance was a big deal.

I think the season Rob met Amber Home Depot was a sponsor and gave them tools & material to build a structure or it was an award. Rob worked construction and built a plush camp.

I didn't care much for Tony in Cagayan or Game Changers but I'm enjoying this Tony much more. Seems more laid back.
Danni was just too paranoid and overplayed.
Ben is someone I was kinda rooting for going into the season because of all the backlash of him winning his season and I felt people were being too harsh. But damn, he's making it hard for me to defend him now. Rob just embarrasses him each time they talk.

Ben and Adam both annoy the shite out of me. So of course they are probably going to run to the end along with the older woman I don’t remember.
Robb really looked foolish in that immunity challenge. Sandra straight up slaughtered him. He also looked like an amateur calling for everyone to empty their bags (even though the idiot newbies did it) and then looked even more like a clown not noticing both of them hiding their idols as they emptied their bags. Amateur hour all around.
This season is not shaping up well for the ones I’m rooting for, although I am happy Ethan seems to be pretty strong in Robb’s camp at this point.
