He released it today through his new studio, Barley Studio, which he apparently intends to use to release fully AI films

NIGHTBORNE is the first full test AI film I have made. It was made using Seedance 2.0.

I've been experimenting with AI for a couple of years, and it's now at the point where I want to tackle a full feature in this format. This is a 13-minute test start.

It was made with real concept artists, and features the faces and voices of 32 real people.

Barley Studios will be my new AI studio for creating my own films, the way Oats Studios was for traditional film and VFX.

it actually isn't as bad as I expected, but definitely has a long way to go still.

Holy shite

That is damn impressive

The dialog and line delivery was the best I have ever seen in an AI film

And as Asmongold said:

This is the worst AI will ever be.

Crazy

Yeah I think this is going to put Hollywood on notice. AI features aren't as far away as they probably believe them to be/hope they will be.

Unless you are contending that AI is going to start getting less capable

Which would be a batshit bonkers claim that I would love to engage with. . .

ETA: Just searched your posts. Pretty clear why you hate him.

This is how we win. Red blooded patriots making real films using AI.

Buddy you are way too old to be watching Asmondgold literally poli slop content for pre teens

As for generative AI, let’s see how fast it evolves once people stop pouring unheard of amounts of capital into a business model that has yet to find a reasonable source of revenue and zero chance of profit. Right now this stuff is getting subsidized heavily by its providers in hope they just hook everyone like Uber, but there will never be the demand they need to keep things afloat. It’s a fundamentally broken technology from a business standpoint. They are just setting money on fire and hoping something gets better one day to make the math work.

AI will exist at some level moving forward, but it won’t be a major player in media in the way you are envisioning. People don’t want it, the numbers don’t add up and it’s just a big Ponzi scheme currently

I don't watch him. I have seen a couple of his videos

I get Twitter, though

It is a relatively unknown social media site that has a feed that sometimes includes videos and such

It doesn't mean it will get worse. AI will continue to improve even when it is no longer in the unsustainable bubble.

It will just improve at a slower rate. If it ever hits singularity, the money won't matter

This tech would be great for what if stuff like live animating a fight between Thanos and Darkseid.

this is a really bad take. Every company is integrating AI in some way.

This must be what it was like when people said the internet would be a fad.

They pushed it hard when it was subsidized

Now that they are starting to get charged the rate fees and spending 4 times the budget in a 4th of the year, they are heavily limiting AI usage across the board

The internet had a clear path to viability that provided huge untapped potential in a number of areas that are profitable. It also had multiple crashes before it found its way.

After 5 years and more money than the worlds ever seen AI can….do chat bot stuff and do some clunky code work for an extremely high cost.

It’s only pitch is that is can do stuff that can already be done, only worse and more expensively.

Yeah...this is a good description of the free versions anyone can access.

You should really consider trying the top tier paid versions before you discount it. Then again, you could wait. Those will be the free versions next year.

ETA: I completely agreed with your take last year. That's just not reality anymore.

That is complete nonsense

I feel like this is more something that you NEED to be true, than something you know to be true.

Your description of AI's capabilities and uses are best described as free AI tools. . .6 months ago.

AI is a bubble, make no mistake. But like the dot.com bubble, when it bursts the tech won't go away or become less important. The WWW didn't disappear, it kept on trucking.

If that is what you are counting on, you are heading to a disappointing future

Yeah, people are in denial if they think this technology is going to go away or be throttled in anyway. Just over three years ago AI slopped looked like this:

Now we have what is in the OP.

You should see the videos showing the evolution of AI, using the prompt "Will Smith eating spaghetti with a fork"

Here's one, but there are much better out there:
