When this is over, it'd be interesting to see how much our Top 200 resembles IMDB's.

I looked at the IMDB list the other day for the first time in over a year. Just awful.

Is TDKR still in the top 10?

I'm using a similar formula so probably similar.

Also, I've said again and again, I have a project for this I WANT to do, but I need a serious stats guy to do it.

I want to compile a "Rating" that is altered depending on the movie appearing on ALL lists, that lists the current Top 200 of films for TD depending on these lists.

Go to the MSB and find one of those baseball fanatics. They love stats.

I need someone who actually knows statistics. Formulas and everything.

I'd put money on TDK on making our Top 25 or 30. Warranted or not.

That's pretty much a declaration of war.

I just view anyone who thinks Michael is a hero is an unredeemable moron. It's on!

I totally want in on a point/counterpoint, I just don't know on what. I could probably argue with someone that the auteur theory is overrated. And that studio interference is often a force for good, and their limits make a movie better, in many cases.

Royal Tennenbaums, Top 5. Baloo on Deck.

Wrote a paper on studio involvement for a class and you are right. Especially when it comes to endings. Studios normally get it right.

People forget how much of a collaborative effort a movie is. They think the director is the sole person responsible for great movies. I'd argue that producers are more influential on whether a movie is good or not.

I'd be more interested to see how much it differs from our own top 100 we did a few years ago. Hell, I'm interested to see how much my own list has changed over the last couple of years. Anyone have a link to the original voting thread for the top 100?

Again, I never know my schedule in advance. Besides, I'd get my arse kicked by you gurus.

4. JGL connection?

I've never told anyone this before, but I am JGL.

BTW -- if any Star Wars movie is in the Top 5, I volunteer to write that while Star Wars is a great movie, its influence on the movie industry has been profoundly negative, and perhaps it would have been better had it never been made.

Yeah, there's some incentive to move Star Wars up a tad while you're filling out your ballot.
