I dont like the "May the force be with us" quote. How would she know that? Because at that time period Jedi were and "ancient religion". It was forgotten. The only people you know who knew it were Vader and Obi Wann.

That's not true.

At the end of ANH, the Rebel Commander sends the pilots off to destroy the Death Star with "May the Force Be With You."

I feel it's like saying "God Bless You."

Damn, the Brits really have taken over the Star Wars franchise...after TFA and now every single person in this Rogue One teaser has a British accent.

There is actually a method behind the accents. People from around the core worlds of the Star Wars Galaxy have a British accent; those from farther out have American accents.

And, yes, I have seen a vagina before ...

Never said that. Within reason is fine. They've taken it to extremes considering nearly the entire rogue one cast is non-white male. (Outside of the bad guy of course)

Rogue One is set immediately before Ep IV which itself is set only 19 years after Ep III where we saw the Jedi wiped out by Order 66. At the time of Rogue One, there would still be plenty of people around who personally remebered the Jedi, especially if they're part of the young Rebellion.

Not the best poster but I will add it to my collection. Just placed my order for the teaser poster and original TFA poster.

i under stand this. Just in the original Star Wars the Empire heads talked to Vader as if it was more of a myth than actual reality. Thats all i was saying. I know the time lines but IMO, when Star Wars was made, i believe the idea of Jedi was supposed to be washed from history.

I think that notion changed once a full backstory was created.

I prefer as much information as possible to be available from the films, and not draw too much from the books to put it all together. However, I just finished the newer book Lost Stars (canon) and it may add some perspective to this... Book spoilers below...

One of the main characters is from an outer rim planet, joins the Academy and ascends to the rank of Commander of her own Star Destroyer (she was also an officer on Executor - Vader's Star Destroyer) without really knowing very much about Vader, other than getting this feeling of fear and hate from him. This comes from one direct encounter. She also believes in the Force, and references it a few times in terms of bringing her and another character together throughout their lives. It's not until near the end until she fully realizes the true motivations of the Empire and up until the end... this from a commander of a Star Destroyer.

This tells me that many of the enlisted officers, much less the troopers and anyone else, are not very familiar with Vader. They're just following orders trying to "prevent a war" with the "terrorist" rebels.

Regarding the Jedi, the other main character (from the same planet as the aforementioned) defects from the Empire and joins the rebel alliance after meeting Wedge, and fights in many of the same battles as Luke. Although he hears about Luke, as well as the Force throughout his life, we are not led to believe he is familiar with the goings-on of the Jedi and how the Force can be used. In fact, every time Luke is mentioned in a flattering way he more or less scoffs at it.

This tells me that the galaxy is freaking huge, and not everyone knows what has transpired regarding Jedi and their use of the Force.

Right. I even think the Jedi were so rare much of what they did was never notice by much of the galaxy. If you didnt live on Coruscant, you would not know much about them but maybe rumors. Similar to how people in the US know about Catholic Cardinals in Vatican City. Being Catholic, i have never met one, seen one, and only know a tiny tiny bit about them or what they do.
