Grief stricken at the death of Jamie but somewhat happy to see his sister is alive he begins to try and help her. But Cersei being Cersei she begins to berate him and blame him for Jamie's death. Enraged by her callousness he then chokes her to death thus completing thee prophecy of her younger sibling killing her.
It’s just been built up too much that I can’t see anyone but Jaime killing her in the books. Keep in mind GRRM wrote this scene in the show where Cersei attempts to poison Tommen. I think this is foreshadowing in the books that Cersei will poison Tommen on the Iron Throne to give him a clean death than what she thinks Aegon will give him.
The second Tommen drops dead Jaime will walk into the throne room, and while Cersei will be delighted to see him thinking he came here to die with her, Jaime then starts to tell her why exactly he killed Aerys. She then realizes that Jaime is the Valonqar, she’s become Aerys, Jaime as the final insult says he managed to negotiate Tommen’s life and birthright to Casterly Rock, and then strangles the life out of her. It’s just too perfect of an end for Cersei. I can’t see it going any other way.

Sorry. That’s bullshite. When you claim you have enough content to fill 10 seasons of an HBO show but you can’t churn out enough content for 6 (his books ended at 5) you’re full of shite.
This makes me think you never read the books. They cut so much shite out of the books he has already written to force the story towards the end. They didnt wanna do the show anymore. They couldve done 8 seasons out of the first 5 books easily

They cut out a bunch of stuff while adding in about 15% worth of air time that no one gives a shite about, like the Greyworm and Missandei love storyline.
