It was pretty spot on with the writing and generational differences, but idk if it was the editing or what but the acting it just felt a little off. Like they would cut to a scene a second or 2 too early with the actors just sitting still or what not and it just felt weird. Maybe they were doing it on purpose but it just didn't feel right

Personally, absolutely loved it. For some weird reason I related to it

I thought it was pretty good. There are not a ton of shows my wife and I both enjoy, but we both liked it.

the episode about living with his girlfriend was spot on. Kind of fricked with my head.
The last episode REALLY fricked with me. It hit way too close to home.
The way he uses yelp cracked me up too because I do that same shite.

I like it a lot, but if you're looking for belly laughs you're going to be disappointed. It's quietly funny but has great writing and characters. I don't see the Louie comparison; Ansari's comedy is far from cynical and MoN is often sweet-natured and gentle. I find that kind of refreshing.

It had its ups and downs, but the two episodes that really stood out to me as fantastic were:
1. The one where it showed what his and his buddy's parents went through in childhood and to get to this country and then how they won't even answer the phone when they call was just great TV and writing.
2. The one where his girlfriend moved in.

I've tried to watch it several times, but just can't seem to pay attention.

As mentioned earlier, it could certainly be the generation gap that made me not like it. The constant "everything is racist" dialog and millennial content could be what made it unlikeable to the older generation. Overall it just was not funny. Sure they hit on some points that were dead on (like living with his girlfriend), that we all can relate to but that is not much of a show based on that.
I will certainly watch the next season and see how it goes but I bet there is a generation gap between the people who really loved it and the people like me who just watched it and really did not find it that entertaining.

Watched the pilot and I don't think we even finished all of it.

I can put up with is race topics mainly because he is an Indian dude that grow up in bennetsville, sc. He may have grown up privileged as a son of a doctor but he has been an outsider.

I liked Love...but this was a lot better. It got kind of preachy but not in the Shonda Rhimes/Lena Dunham way. They had some solid episodes like the parent's history, the trip to Nashville, and when she moved in. One negative is that the acting is not exactly good.
