+1 it's the beginning of the end for theatrical
Cinema has been dead ever since Amazon bought out MGM studios. That was an impending sign of what was yet to come.
All of the old-school Hollywood film companies that made the big-hit classic movies that we grew up to love (Miramax, Weinstein Pictures, Warner Bros, Universal, and 20th Century Fox) are all going out of style as the corporations like Netflix, Amazon, Disney, and Apple seek to buy up all of the smaller film companies in an attempt to monopolize cinema.
In other words, companies like Netflix want to monopolize cinema by buying out all of the smaller film companies and pumping out as many half-assed cookie-cutter TV shows and films to justify hiking their subscription prices.
The executives at corporations like Netflix and Amazon know absolutely frick all about what it takes to make great movies, and they don’t give a shite. The only thing they care about is maximizing profit and prioritizing quantity over quality.
But here’s the bigger problem: corporations like Netflix wouldn’t be where they’re at without enough people subscribing to their services. STOP PAYING COMPANIES LIKE NETFLIX TO KEEP PUMPING OUT SHITTY HALF-ASSED MOVIES AND TV SHOWS.
frick corporations like Netflix and Amazon, and frick the idiots who pay to watch their garbage. By paying for an Amazon or Netflix service, you’re directly contributing to the monopolization of cinema.

Why? What have you seen already with them taking control of paramount that would make this suck more than Netflix?
Or is it about your politics???
Dont be naive man. This guy Ellison has recently acquired TikTok and paramount and obviously has an agenda if you look into his past.

WB film and tv studios + streaming are the valuable assets, but Paramount died on the hill of wanting to acquire the struggling cable business as well. I wonder why.

In streaming paramount/warner would actually be a truer competitor to both Netflix and Disney/hulu (and Prime) instead of Netflix/warner becoming even more dominant.
I just don't see the issue here.

Netflix 21%
Prime 22%
Max 13%
Disney+ 12%
Hulu 11%
Paramount+ 9%
Apple TV+ 7%
Peacock 1%
Other 4%
Netflix is a pure streaming platform. Amazon didn't need to get into the streaming wars but they did, HBO didn't need to either, nor did Disney. nor did Paramount, nor did Apple, and nor did NBC. All of these companies have other things on the side that made them profitable but they decided to get into the streaming war with a company that already had a decade head start and a better business model.
It's not a monopoly when all of the other companies in this race have other things going for them. They decided to compete with Netflix because they wanted to. Netflix does it because that's how they survive and make money. Netflix's biggest competitor (Prime) bought a movie studio several years back. Disney did likewise. Nobody bitched and moaned about those mergers quite like they are with this one.

#WarnerBros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav told staff that the company’s pending sale to #Netflix is unlikely to lead to sweeping layoffs, as the streaming service’s “intention is that they want to keep most people, because they don’t have a lot.”
“I understand that the last couple of weeks have been disruptive, and it’s tough to read about every day. And where are we going to end up, and the idea of coming together with another company, there are going to be some trepidation. I understand that, but it is a good fit. The intention is that they want to keep most people, because they don’t have a lot; they don’t have a motion picture studio, they don’t have a big gaming business. And so the fit feels very good for our employees.”

Since the cable broadcasting business isn't included in the sale, the FCC isn't involve (thank goodness).

Biden's FTC couldn't stop Microsoft from acquiring Activision.

So what have they done with paramount that shows any of this?
It seems like a simple question that both of you can’t answer.

I sincerely doubt there is any difference in the political leanings of the principal decision makers at either company.
Regardless of whether they push their views onto screens there seems to be noticeable differences in political leanings between papa Ellison and Hastings. I am not sure on Ellison’s kids or the co-ceo’s at Netflix.
Besides Susan Rice being added to board, the deal with the Obamas, and the constant alphabet pushed on Netflix I have disliked that Netflix had the power years ago to withhold its programming being assessable to continue watching, search, and related programming on Apple TV along with some other items other Apple TV features. If they do that with HBO and other Warner content that will be a huge segment of the streaming market doing this.
As of now on Apple TV Paramount app not only plays nice with Apple TV features unlike Netflix, but paramount still allows its service without actually using the paramount app, handing paramount a lot of personal data, or needing to set up an account with paramount.
If Netflix forced to follow the same practices I would be less opposed to Warner purchase.

On Paramount, you can watch POTUS make love to Satan and VPOTUS. What part of the alphabet is that?

Mergers and acquisitions are usually not good for the consumer. Just ask, Patrick.
