The Witch was good, not great like many say, but definitely good. I also really liked the remake of IT, never seen the original but the remake was on point.

The Babadook. It Comes At Night. Neither of these are just true horror films. They're a lot deeper than that.

I liked that The Babadook had the symbolism. I think it was just a solid movie and not incredibly deep, but I did like that they at least tried to have meaning that is at least a layer or two deep.

I thought Blair Witch 2016 (NOT Book of Shadows) was scary as hell. It had some weak points, but the scares were on point.

It was an incredibly deep exploration of grief

Not really. Fairly transparent and easily digestible. Once you recognize the symbol you don't have to dive too much deeper than that. Still solid though and definitely more interesting than most stuff out there. In my opinion.

Just watched it comes at night. Too ambiguous for a horror movie, not scary, and pretty dull throughout.
