Yeah...this one definitely does not belong. I have shown this to both of my sons, 10 and 6, and though the older one was hesitant because of the name, both loved it as much as I had. There's nothing about the movie that dates it, and it's so well written with such great performances. It benefits from the fact that it's a fantasy but has little over the top special effects which would otherwise make it not hold up.

I would add "Jason and the Argonauts (1963)" and "The Other", and it hurts to say it considering how awesome I thought they were.

P.S. Did anyone else read "swallowed" when they scanned over "saw/loved"?

None that I can think of. I grew up in the 50's and 60's. Everything on TV was good we couldn't afford to go to the theater often but when we did it was always something good.
