Verrrrrry underrated movie.

Amazing.

It took me a couple viewings to get into the Big Lebowski, but I like it!

The only Coen Bros. movie I liked on initial viewing was A Serious Man, which is my favorite by them.

Same here. I didn't think it was that great the first time I saw it. Now, I find it hilarious.

Grease.

Did not appreciate the humor at the time. Mistakenly though of it as a chick flick.

I had some preconceived notions when I saw Watchmen in theaters and I came away pretty disappointed, but upon subsequent viewings of the directors cut I have come to love it.

100% agree.

The movie felt like an incomplete thought in theaters but it gets more fleshed out in the director's cut. It's now one of my favorite movies.
P.S. the graphic novel is even better.

Lost in Translation. Absolutely hated it the first time I saw it. Then I got in Bill Murray's situation and was able to completely identify with it. I was going through a period of loneliness at the time, and that film greatly helped me cope with my new situation of being a stranger in a strange land.

Same here. I actually liked it the first time, but once I shipped out to grad school I popped it in again. I was depressed as it was my first time away from home. I wondered if I could be as happy in my new surroundings and that movie gave me a lot of hope at the time. It turns out I found new people in my life like Murray's character did... and now I feel nostalgic about those days.

I agree with several others in this thread.

Watchmen. I think the first time I watched Watchmen, I had read the graphic novel too recently. That compounded with the fact that it wasn't the extended cut. The second time I was able to separate it from the novel a lot more.

Jackie Brown. Hated it the first time, second time I wondered what I was thinking.

And now for my original contribution... The Thing (1982). It became one of my top 25 favorite films the second time I watched it a few days ago. I think a lot of people like this more on the second watch. It was actually a subject they talked about on the documentary on the DVD.
