99% of movie adaptations don't do the books justice.

I can only think of a select few where the movie is legit better than the book... Forrest Gump immediately comes to mind. LOTR trilogy did a remarkable job as well of bringing the books to life.

The original or the American remake?

League of Extraordinary Gentleman was an awesome comic series and Hollywood wiped their collective arse with every page.

Random googling discovered that the guy who played Tom Sawyer in the movie is from Baton Rouge. Damn shame.

I have no qualms with the Gump movie, enjoyed the heck out of it, but the book was laugh out loud hilarious.

One of the few examples where hollywood didn't diminish the book but I don't believe, IMHO, they improved upon it either.

They improved upon it greatly I think, by sticking to the more believable, although outlandish, stories and doing away with the ridiculous plots like Forrest the pro wrestler and Forrest the astronaut. Plus Tom Hanks.

Lonesome Dove miniseries was good but I'm a huge fan of the book (and most of McMurtry's stuff).

I understand what you're saying. They glossed over the parts of the book that were less appealing to you then the ones they included in the movie.

But everytime I reread the book I do wish Sue the orangutan had made it to the screen.

Aside from sheer ineptitude, it took a satire on political correctness and made it a monument to political correctness

The Percy Jackson movie is a blight on this earth.

So much potential with how great those books were.
