Holy Grail is my favorite movie, period.
But they didn't invent the coconut/horse idea though it's greatness in the movie. They were also forced into since they couldn't afford horses with a budget under $200,000.

In high school, a few years before Spamalot, a buddy of mine wrote a stage production of Holy Grail and wrote to Monty Python to ask if the school could perform it. They said yes. I was asked to play Brave Sir Robin. Only time I did theater; it was a fantastic experience. Everyone involved loved the movie so much.
