Lionsgate has shifted the release dates of Mel Gibson’s The Resurrection Of The Christ with Part One now set to arrive on May 6, 2027 (Ascension Day), and Part Two on May 25, 2028 (Ascension Day and Memorial Day Weekend). The previous dates were March 26, 2027 (Good Friday) for Part One, with Part Two slated to open just 40 days later on Ascension Day, May 6, 2027. Day Drinker starring Johnny Depp will take the March 26, 2027 slot, Lionsgate said. The studio, along with Gibson, Bruce Davey and their Icon Productions banner, also said they’ve completed principal photography on the epic follow-up to The Passion of the Christ. Filming concluded after shooting for 134 days in Italy across Rome, Bari, Ginosa, Craco, Brindisi and Matera.

I watched his Rogan interview I mean this is an ambitious movie

Jesus 3 days in hell, releasing the good to the death of the last Disciple

And wars between angels and demons as depicted in the Bible

in English.. The most horrific movie in terms of horror, with Gibsons rawness and all those little Satan spawn kids will go into it get exposed to the truth that is in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

it'll be a trip

Gibson did say it was going to be an acid trip. I guess he'll try to depict the supernatural as best as he can. That actually would be satisfactory. What would a spiritual war look like if we had no language to describe it or visual schema to depict it? How might we feel the impact of it if we couldn't understand what we were watching?

Or maybe we'll just see some Harry Potter wizardy shite from Jesus. Seems odd to take liberties and depict a full scale Lord of the Rings style war between angels and demons for movie entertainment.

Gonna be weird and a big letdown not having Caviezel playing Jesus.

esus 3 days in hell,

Jesus was just in the grave for 3 days, not actual hell. Peter was quoting from the Hebrew word Sheol (the grave), translated to Greek is Hades. So referring to the same thing, not a the place of torment. Makes sense as well since when he was resurrected he didn't mention anything about an actual burning hell but rather was just asleep in death/in the grave.

Gibson said that several particular Christian mythologies would be in the film: Harrowing of Hell and Fall of the Angels

It’s interesting to see how he’s going to depict this. Both are deep elements of Catholic mythology that have only been visualized from Renaissance and glass paintings.
