Those saying the only good stories from the late 70's were the X-men should read these. Great story arcs, not on the same level as Claremont, but pretty close. It's really in these issues that Perez came into his own (actually started back in the 140's). Byrne drew about 10 issues as well. If I remember correctly, these were the issues that the federal government first started to heavily regulate the Avengers. They were appointed a government liaison who hated the Avengers. Forced to limit the number of members and pretty much forced them to accept Falcon as a member due to affirmative action.

To the OP, if you like Infinity Gauntlet, I would suggest you try to find the stories from the mid 70's in which Thanos looks for and finds the Cosmic Cube. The arc jumped from title to title, but I think it was in the Avengers, Marvel Two in One and Marvel Team-Up. Excellent story line and precursor to the Gauntlet.
