I finally watched the series. Loved it but thought the ending was disappointing. Anyone else feel this way?

Other than the ending, great series.

The ending grew on me on the rewatch

I've been binge watching. Getting close to the end.

Ending wasn’t great, but I was ok with it and it warrants no complaining though

In the spin off, Don Draper becomes a leader of a small cult. Still talks about coca-cola ads.

Didn't care for the ending but has any series really ended well?

Loved the show overall.

I thought it was great till season 5 but Meghan was awful and then Joan went from cool to a total bitch and Roger went from someone who cared about Joan to someone who wouldn't piss on her if she was on fire. I didn't enjoy seasons 5-7 and it just dragged on and on with repetitive story lines, especially with Don.

Sort of this and it's my favorite drama of all-time.

Ending, like a lot of endings, seemed to try to tidy things up cheaply.

Joan was useless the last few years...apart from helping the firm and her storyline with the Doc was lame.

Pete had a lame ending...Peggy's ending was cheap writing.

But the ending made sense - the whole show was Don running from his past so it makes sense he goes to a hippie retreat in Big Sur, CA and goes through that "therapy" which was popular in the 1970s - and that was and is a real "institute" in Big Sur.

The best thing about the ending is Mad Men always stayed true to the times and shifted it's story and characters actions to the time period they were in.

I loved the show but I did feel like it started to lose steam toward the end

Mad Men lost steam at the end because they started splitting seasons and just ruined any momentum that they had.

One of the best series in TV history, but the very ending was dumb. Like an afterthought that wasn't edited out. It left me with the feeling that I had just wasted a hell of a lot of time for about 5 mins after the end. A better ending would have been the scene where he hands over the keys to his Cadillac to the young wayfarer that reminded him of his earlier self. Cut..the end.

What's a more appropriate ending than Don Draper parlaying a personal epiphany into one of the most successful ad campaigns of all time?

I agree

I loved the ending and the entire show for that matter.

The only thing that was disappointing to me was the rushed love story with Peggy. They seemed like they just threw that together so quickly. Aside from that, I thought it was pretty good.

I am right there with you. The ending was kinda bla. But when I thought about it, that show probably could not have had some kind of dramatic ending. The entire series just kinda rolled by with a even keel.

Really enjoyed the series and am on the second watch. I am fascinated by the cultural norms that are worked into the scenes. Most obvious is the smoking by everyone done everywhere. Then there's the day drinking by the ad men that seems perfectly normal in everyday life. But the two that stick out the most were during season one when Sally was playing with her little brother and she had a plastic dry cleaning bag over her head and Betty scolded her about the laundry. Then there was the family pic-nic when they finished, Don just dumped all their trash on the ground in the park and left.

I though the ending was great. Linking him to the Coca Cola ad, which could be the most recognized ad of all time, cleaned everything up.

I despised Peggy and Joan at the end of that show.

What? Her getting together with Stan was one of my favorite moments. Wouldn’t call it rushed either, there was a long string of hinting between those two
