Also, I'd say for most kids (especially boys) in the 80s, The Wizard was pretty damn iconic. It was the first time most of us had seen Super Mario Brothers 3, which is one of the greatest video games of all time. Unless you had s Nintendo Power subscription (or something similar), that was your introduction to SM3. So obviously that was a huge deal. It was also the first time a lot of kids saw the Power Glove, and regardless of how much of a piece of shite it ended up being, that was also a pretty big deal. The whole thing was basically one giant Nintendo commercial.
