re: Lucasfilm wants all star wars projects to have females or POC as main characters

As if you never knew, SW has ALWAYS been 'diverse'. But the overwriting of the past heroes for the sake of making the new ones , the female ones, 'better than evar! ' is what most fans are objecting to. Luke was introduced as - yes, accept it. a WHITE MALE. But that wasn't ever what made him great. I never MATTERED before KK showed up and started mucking things up.
Why shouldn’t there be more female heroes in Star Wars? It’s not like women doesn’t represent at least half of the US population (and I believe global as well).
Why is that such an issue for some of y’all?

When has forced diversity ever improved anything?
ETA: Forced diversity almost destroyed the Star Wars brand. Star Wars fans should be very concerned.

No it didn't. It almost liberated us from the fringe lunatics in the base.
Almost.

No one who likes Star Wars could possibly believe this.
ETA: In fact, this sort of response from Reeeeeeean Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy went a long way toward almost sealing the deal.
Star Wars does not thrive without the fans who got it to where it is. And it won't.

I disagree. Only someone who likes Star Wars could recognize this.
I get it. You had an idea or maybe even some fan fiction that took "your" characters in a certain direction.
At some point, you have to grow up and recognize that you don't own Star Wars or the story.
And it's laughable for anyone to pretend that anything was "almost sealed" after the money they made.

At some point, it will have to.
And honestly, it already is. There are plenty of fans who grew up with the PT. And now there are fans who were brought in by the ST.
Stop listening to bullshite clickbait about how Kennedy is out and Favreau is leading a Civil War at Lucasfilm.

As far as the sequels went, there was no story. It was a steaming pile of jumbled shite because there was no overall direction, only the egos of the directors.
And that is the entire problem. One that people like you ignore just as fricking hard as the rabid fanboys do that the story has to evolve.
You're no better than the guy you're blasting for being stuck in the past.
It's odd how the Mandalorian is praised by damn near everyone with a minority playing the lead character, and several very strong female leads. You want to know why? Favreau and Filoni tell a good story to the point diversity doesn't mean shite, instead of creating a story around diversity and blasting anyone who dares criticize it as a misogynist or racist.

Must be nice for you that they made Mandolorian and saved the franchise so you can act dumb with comments like this.

It would be fantastic if they gave Filoni and Favreau the keys to the Star Wars universe, but I'm good as long as they're heavily involved. If Disney does't realize Kennedy almost destroyed the franchise, then they aren't paying attention. It is obvious that the reaction to the Mandolorian is far different from the reaction to the garbage sequel trilogy that cannot be defended in any way.
There is a 100% chance that any Star Wars series that forces diversity will fail and any that doesn't will thrive. We already have evidence of this with the more recent Disney cartoon series that centered only on the female characters that I can't even think of the name of at the moment.
You are absolutely incorrect in your assessment of how this will go.

It's because there's a difference between having diversity and forcing diversity. No Star Wars fan is threatened by diversity. Diversity has always been a central part of the Star Wars universe.

I hate to be the one to break this news, but the story we got in the ST isn't that far removed from what Lucas would've given us.

Sure, let's act like no one has complained about the female team up. I don't have to leave the thread for examples of that happening.
And I'm laughing my arse off at the trumpeting of a character whose face we've seen for three scenes in two seasons.

Well, you have certain people who aren't satisfied unless diversity is front and center in every aspect of our lives.
Diversity first. All else is secondary.
This is how you end up with The Last Jedi and the female Ghostbusters abomination. They were both cases where the primary focus was diversity/wokeness, and the story was an afterthought.

I'm talking about public reaction as a whole. If you think the response to the last scene in the last episode is on the same level as the response to The Last Jedi, you're a fricking ideological hack and nothing more.

Yes, because Pedro Pascal playing the Mandalorian was completely unknown by everyone until he took his helmet off. And I see you completely ignored the female characters.
Congrats on being the poster child of what I was talking about. Yup. Ideological hack. Get over yourself.

Disney realizes that Star Wars has already made them billions and will make them billions more.

Except the "forced diversity" in The Mandalorian that everyone is cool with because Fan Service. They'll still bitch about it, but they also have YouTube nerds to tell them how Luke showing up is erasing the ST.

Yeah, maybe. I'm still ahead of your incorrect assessment of how it's already gone.

I do. Which is why this board is a microcosm. Maybe stop reading and rageposting on starwars fanboy sites and get out of your bubble a bit. The public reaction to the Mandalorian and The Last Jedi is rather apparent.

Just because you don't comprehend what I'm saying doesn't make it stupid. You insinuating people are too stupid to understand the lead character is a minority even while wearing a helmet says more about you than it does the fans.

No, you don't. You are an ideological zealot. I'm pointing out you're as much of a zealot as the fanboys you're bashing in this thread.
You think your opinion is the One True Opinion just like they do.
I mean the numbers and responses are right there in front of you, and you chose to ignore them and instead supplant your opinion as fact.

This board is representative of a very vocal and significant portion of the fan base. Look at all the dipshit clickbaiters with hundreds of thousands or millions of followers.
If you actually spend any time outside of this site, you're an idiot or a liar.

Oh, believe me, I fully understand the point you're trying to make.
It isn't clever. It's the opposite of clever. It's a pathetic gotcha moment that you will herp derp to repeatedly.
You act like you're inventive and new. You aren't.
