Good argument. But, fwiw, I really thought the movie was a tad overrated. I guess my expectation were too high.

This movie had a save the rainforest hint about it. Or atleast that is what I remember from seeing it when I was 9.

Just appalling the messages that liberal hollywood tries to stuff down our throats. The propaganda in this film is so filled with bile that even Michael Moore thinks it is over the top and went too far.

Avatar anyone?
V For Vendetta. Conservatives are terrorists and blame Muslims to create a police state and ban gays.
A Handmaid's Tale. Christian conservatives take over government.
Pretty much every film made has liberal propaganda stuck in it somewhere.

It's really important to shine a light on all of these harmful movies.
You are all right.
On the harmful propaganda scale: James Cameron > Joseph Goebbels

Meh. I watched this one about 6 months ago and it struck me as more of an anti-big government message than a liberal message (which is generally pro-big government). I talked about this on here before that the actors in it (especially Natalie Portman) thought she was pushing her agenda with this one while Bush was in office. But if you watch it now, it certainly does not shine a positive light on either party.

I always have to chuckle when people seem outraged or surprised or upset that works of art might have an agenda/point/meaning.

Is also not a liberal propaganda film. It is a story about a terrorist using dramatic acts of obscene violence while attempting to overthrow a totalitarian police state. The theme is the justification of violence for either the maintenance of order or the obtaining of freedom. I suppose you could argue that it is making the case for collectivist anarchism but that is pretty far away from your typical Hollywood liberalism.

On the other hand, John Q was pure utter shite due to both its intended political message and the unintended one of justifying terrorism.

This is more in line with 1984 and hardly a positive light for modern liberals. The film espouses the inherent evil of government and the control it wields.

Wow. Thinking Frost/Nixon is propoganda says more about the viewer than the movie. If anything, the movie was VERY kind to Nixon. And it's not like the interview didn't happen.
I know people who think Wall-E is nothing but liberal propaganda, which begs the question, are self-described conservatives in favor of obesity and pollution?

I think they are just in favor of bitching.

This thread reads like Debbie Schlussel's blog.

quote:I've never agreed with this. I think it shows the whole spectrum. There is definitely a big evil business corporation/ killing mother Earth element (liberal), but also it has a get up off of your fat arse and do something for yourself/human spirit element (conservative).

Either way I think it is a great movie.

Not to mention completely oblivious to Biblical allusions...

V For Vendetta.
I agree that its overall message was an anti big govt./violence is sometimes justified theme.
