Rupert interrupting the McDonald's security guy's phone call by asking, "Are you talking to Mayor McCheese?" is one of the single funniest moments of late night TV

Those were such great bits. Watching last night reminded me of why I used to watch the show.

I'll watch again tonight, but that style of show is dead for all intents and purposes.

Bill Murray was his final "guest". But I imagine 10 pretty big names will turn up to read the last Top Ten list

To get the full affect, you need to watch the whole episode because it was a bigger build up and Dave didn't want anything to go sour when Julia was on stage.

I think Regis should have been final guest, their interviews were always great IMO

Stern asked if Leno would be on the final show. Dave looked at his producer and asked her, she stood there with a horrified look and wouldn't say yes or no.

They asked Stern to bring up Leno during the pre-interview

Foo Fighters will be his final musical guest.

Dave's favorite song is Everlong

I thought he had better taste in music.

You usually have pretty good taste, but you're waaaaayyy off on this one. His move to CBS was a success anyway you slice it (regardless of Leno's ratings after the Hugh Grant silliness).

Carson and Letterman are, by far, the two brightest stars in the late night firmament. They both changed late night television in their own way, and every subsequent host, including the current ones, will acknowledge that fact.
