Cool experience if you’re looking for something different to watch. There’s no narrative or plot, it’s a series of images of nature and people interacting with technology, shot in the late 70’s.
There’s some aerial footage of a big abandoned housing project in St. Louis, the first time I saw it I thought it was from the Soviet Union. Eerie stuff. Everything was shot in America over several years.
It says presented by Francis Ford Coppola but he didn’t make it, he saw a screening and liked it so much that he offered to put his name on it to help get it distributed.
The title is a Hopi word that translates to “life out of balance.” It’s on Prime right now, watched it last night for the first time in decades.

I remember watching this in one of my film classes during the '90s. It's fairly well known because of the Phillip Glass score.

especially the scene w/ the little kid walking next to those massive dump trucks
i get them mixed up as far as what scene is from which but like you, i try to watch them every few years. my wife is perplexed
