I don't remember seeing Love and Sausages before. Or maybe I did but didn't get it at the time as a David Lynch homage.
I remember it mainly because it was strange. A friend and I would joke about it, randomly calling each other and screaming “sausages” like Scott Thompson did.
30 years later and we’ll still occasionally text each other one word - Sausages.

Kids in the Hall is an all-time classic sketch comedy.
Scott Thompson is the best!

It was funny but hit and miss like all sketch comedy shows. We were lucky back then to have SNL (still funny), In Living Color, MadTV, and Kids In the Hall all at the same time and all much better than SNL today. MadTV was especially underrated:

It was more hit or miss for me. Some skits had me laughing, others just meh.
This is pretty much every skit show ever. People always remember the hits, but all of these shows had more misses than hits.

Honestly this is very true. Even the greatest ones fall into that, like Monty Python (though I might argue they had more hits than misses). There are definitely some Python skits where you're just staring at it thinking, "Man, they stuck to that bit like it was a life preserver from the Titanic."
But yeah, the boon and bane of skit shows. Especially the ones that leaned more and more into absurdist humor.
