ITATSE gearing up for its own strike.
Who? International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees.
"A coalition of Hollywood’s below-the-line unions rallied Sunday on the eve of their latest contract negotiations. They threatened a historic strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers if their demands weren’t met. Such a work stoppage would follow a pair of strikes in 2023 by industry writers and actors that crippled the entertainment industry and have left it limping into the new year.
“I hope they’re paying attention right down the road at the AMPTP,” IATSE vp Michael Miller announced from the stage to the crowd of around 1,000 people at Woodley Park in Encino. (Nearly 1,000 more watched a livestream online.) He then invoked a slogan repeated throughout the event: “Nothing moves without the crew.”

Who? Only everyone that is actually making the movie.
The contract is up in 5 months, but wisely negotiations are starting now.
I don’t foresee a work stoppage.

The movie industry better tread lightly. More and more it seems like people are phased less by strikes and whatnot.
Hollywood needs viewers to survive, not the other way around. At some point a large amount of people just won’t care anymore.

Nearly 1 million subs.
*First 2 minutes is a Joe Rogan clip. Might be worth a look.

Same. They should have done it in 2021 when they had a real gripe. Now they have no leverage and the show I’m working on is very against going on strike so I doubt they get member support. People just want to go back to work.

exactly why the studios and corporations will push to get a deal, so they continue to create and own content. And please with people won't care anymore. Just look around this board --- "what should i watch next", "I'm out of things to watch" ... "Is Fargo season 4 any good". You are underestimating the power of entertainment. People will tire of reruns, Korean content, whatever.
The deal will get done, but US Production is very expensive and that is why London and other markets internationally are benefiting. The landscape is changing for both studios and production crew, but they rely on each other to earn and will sort it out. Plus, the teamsters are on this contract .... it's happening.
I feel for my colleagues not working ... the studios are stalling productions to keep the workers hungry, so they are much less likely to vote for a work stoppage.
