This father was probably responsible for FAR MORE deaths than Vader, including his own daughter. Bad hombre
The Death Star was getting made regardless. He delayed as much as possible and installed a fatal flaw in the design that saved the galaxy.

You should really just slink your way back out this thread and pretend you never created it. It's not that you didn't like the movie, it's that your points are fricking terrible.

And the Emperor was going to have an apprentice regardless. Anakin thought he was saving the galaxy

You're not allowed to criticize Star Wars on this board, unless its the prequels.

Was Anakin intentionally sabotaging the emperor throughout his time as Sith?

Just come out and admit that you hate Star Wars.

When you resort to using that sort of language, you know it's not going well.

Yes. Even admitted as much to Luke. That they could rule the galaxy together, without the emperor

Huge fan of the movies.
Hate that they killed off Han
Hate that the last 2 movies are retreads of IV, just for the purpose of having female heroines. Just write a damn new storyline for the girls
Comes off as lazy

I wouldn't away it was sabotage. It is the sith way for the student to kill the master if they can.

If you hate that they killed off Han Solo then you hate Han Solo.

I just don't hold it to the same standard that I do the episodic releases, and I'm not meant to. It's perfectly fine for what it is.

Overall, I liked it. But it's a very flawed film. Forrest Whittaker was awful. They should've cut him out.

I know that Harrison Ford wanted him to die, but he was HUGE reason the series exploded, so . . . ?
Plus, now that Carrie Fisher is legit dead, it just loses the whole Skywalker legacy feel for future movies (unless Luke has kids??)

Yet clearly eagerly enforced the will of the emperor, and would continue to rule without the emperor.
Galen Erso was actively trying to prevent the empire from even ruling the galaxy.

My thought is that they are starting with familiar storylines before branching out into the greater universe of Star Wars. It's very low hanging fruit but helps to reinvigorate the fans.
Calling VII a retread is shallow. It has elements that mirror aspects of A New Hope, but much of that is meant to bring about feelings of nostalgia for older fans. It also was done to show how circular things are in the galaxy.
Movie making is very formulaic, and the film industry has become increasingly risk adverse. They want big movies like this to have mass appeal. Diverse casts are a big deal and help to sell the film overseas.
Also, both movies being headlined by women have had zero effect on the overall story. There have been no girl power rah rah type lines, and they haven't turned the films into something cutsie.
Han Solo dying was inevitable. If you believe the rumors about how Ford wanted the character to be killed off in the OT, then I don't see why that was such a shocker.
