Best:
1) Locke
2) Desmond
3) Sawyer
4) Ben
5) Hurley

Worst:
1) Michael
2) Nikki and Paulo
3) Ana Lucia
4) Shannon
5) Charlotte

Not going to put absolutely despicable characters like Anthony Cooper or Keamy on the worst list because they’re actually effective villains.

Would also agree his character is one of the best

I also think RIchard Alberts story and character was one of the best.

Yep. Overwhelming majority of those that argued it was a bad ending, their main complaint showed that it went completely over there head. It was a fantastic ending.

It wasn't just the ending, though it was spectacularly bad, the whole final season sucked. Some people may have misinterpreted the ending, but even that doesn't mean they weren't justified in disliking the ending and the final season/boatloads of questions that weren't answered. Doesn't change the fact that you were strung along with red herrings for multiple seasons with no answers.

I know there are still big defenders of it but the ending ruined the show for me. Looking back on it, it ruined it worse than Game of Thrones. I swore off Game of Thrones forever but a year or so ago I went back and reluctantly rewatched it. I hate watched the final three seasons but I rewatched it. I tried to do that with LOST but stopped after the second season because I just kept thinking about how bad the ending was and how much of the stuff was b.s.

I say this as a very big Lindelof fan. And the ending didn't take away from the fun had while the show was running and the discussions each week.

It wasn’t worse than the ending of Game of Thrones. What are you bitching about right here: the answers. Hell, a lot of people bitch about things they claim that weren’t answered but actually were answered, like say the polar bears which was as simple as them being brought there by the Dharma Initiative to do experiments on (that was answered in the beginning of Season 3 and a few more times later when the dumber of the fans didn’t get it).

What aren’t you bitching about: the characters. Save for a single character (not going to say it until the OP finishes the show), all the characters pretty much have satisfactory arcs and conclusions to their characters. The very ending is beautiful and was the logical end to the show, although there were several avenues you could have used to reach that conclusion. Like I fully believe JJ, Damon, and Carlton that they knew what the final scene was when they first started shooting the show.

Now with Game of Thrones, while some of the answers were also dumb, what was the real kick in the balls was the betrayal of the characters. Like there’s nothing as bad in LOST than Jaime crawling back to Cersei going to die with her and claiming that he never cared for the commoners. Whose character ends on a satisfactory note past Season Six? Maybe the Hound and Jorah and that’s it?

Sorry, characters are more important than answers. LOST excelled in the former even if some of the answers are subpar. Game of Thrones betrayed both at the end.

I pretty much agree with every word of this

The story of LOST was not as important as the characters at the end. Which they hit spot on

There was no way to end that story where everyone agreed it was accurate. It was just too long of a ride and way too much story to wrap up

No way the ending ruined that show. If anything, the final flashbacks were one of the best moments of the show and proved that the characters were the most important part

O God I hurt your little feelings by saying the ending to lost wasn't good. I forgot nobody can say that when you're around. Grow up and have a normal conversation instead of throwing a fit.

I'm not bitching dumbass And I'm not saying it was worse, I'm saying I couldn't even do a rewatch because the ending ruined the show for me. Simple as that. And I don't give a crap about the Polar Bear, that wasn't even a complaint of mine. And are you trying to act like that was the only thing that could possibly be left out? I listed out all the unanswered stuff a few months ago that I don't feel like typing out again. I'll search for it.

quote:

What aren’t you bitching about: the characters.

So I'm not bitching about it but you feel the need to explain why I shouldn't bitch about it? Ok thanks, I guess.

Shocker, but there's more than one reason a show can be bad. Game of Thrones gave me answers but they were bad, LOST gave me very few answers, which is also bad. Both shows are completely ruined for me. I was able to rewatch Game of Thrones, that does not make it better since I was literally hate wathing, I just didn't feel the need to hate watch LOST. I'm not trying to argue which show I don't like worse.

Sorry not everyone has the same opinion as you. The ending to LOST is polarizing and widely disliked. It's not some hot take to dislike the ending of LOST.

I will say that Lost is by far the best series for cliffhangers.

We binged through the series years ago. Seemed every episode had a good cliffhanger. Bet it was brutal waiting every week to see the next episode when the show was on air.

It was both brutal and amazing. So much to unwrap for a week till the next episode hit.

I remember the end of season 1 when John and Jack were looking down the hatch. The internet discussion after that season end was ureal.

God, this show is so good, I never tire of rewatches and the numerous threads about it here. I am firmly in the camp of loving the finale, I would even go so far as to call it one of my favorite finales of any show.

Its kind of funny that the clip you posted kinda correlates to the fanbase and the feelings on the ending of the show. Science (answers) vs Faith ( characters), I could be wrong but I feel like the majority of the Science fans do not like the ending while the Faith fans do. I thought the ending was beautifully done and was completely satisfied with it.

Most that have ever argued on here that they didn't like it, did. If you disliked it for other reasons, that is perfectly fine. Then I wasn't talking about you

I never said they were or weren't justified. I said they didn't understand the ending. It is a tv show, people like and dislike things for whatever reasons they want to.

I think most more had a checklist on which answers we were given, which weren’t, and got pissed if they weren’t given satisfactory answers for either. I think largely this board got that major misinterpretation didn’t happen. It wasn’t like the Hodor thread that had to be told R+L=J repeatedly.

If you go in with iwy’s POV in give me the answers and give me all of them, then you’re going to be disappointed by the end of LOST. If however you go in from a character perspective, then you should be satisfied. Save for Eko being preliminarily killed off due to the actor hating Hawaii or one that is in Season Six, you don’t really have people bitching about the characters unless that character actually sucks.

I swear, some fans would rather the finale just been a Comic Con Panel where Damon and Carlton just answered all the fans questions endlessly rather than an effective moving arc.

Aplogies. I had seen other spoilers and stuff and figured spoilers were fine.

***SPOILER*****

Fair. But I think, and I could be wrong because you seem to think otherwise, most people know that they weren't all dead from the beginning. If you only watched it once and never read or talked about it, I actually can see why someone would think that. Most I've seen know that was not the case.

But even that in itself tells you a lot about the ending. It was overly confusing to many and was messy. Not everyone is just going to right away understand sideways time jumps. Not to mention it was anticlimactic

I hadn't realized the OP still hadn't finished the final season, so i'm going to refrain from discussing any of it further until they do.

Again, it wasn't just the finale. The finale was bad, but it was the entire final season.

And it just built up and built up so you expected more at the end. You have things from season 2 and 3 and on and you'd tell yourself "Ok that will be answered later." And you do that 15 times throughout the show and by the last season you're thinking ok they are bound to do it now. Then by the final episode you know it's not happening.

Even though you got my POV wrong, since I knew by the finale most of them weren't going to be answered and it would have made for a dumb episode if they just answered all the unanswered questions, but in no way is it wrong for a person who would have the POV of "give me the answers". It's a show filled with mystery after mystery, but one of the best parts about a mystery show/movie, is the reveal.
