1. Season one is great. Ppl are dumb.

2. Andy was never a strong enough character for that much screen. They completely got rid of what made him funny in the beginning and turned him into this timid, overly polite pussy, and then self absorbed and selfish at the end.

I think the last episode I really liked him was when he was interviewing for the #2 position under Dwight when Michale thought he was getting Jan's job.

3. Cathy isn't hotter to me, and I doubt Jim would ever do anything. Their relationship arc wasn't interesting, and that's pretty much the only reason she was introduced.

4. I liked her performance, but yeah she was the worst in the sense of her ethics.

5. Jim and Pam thought they were better than everyone, but yet they stayed in the same job for years. To me they represent the viewer, but not self aware as they think they are. They were times where they really bonded with their co workers, but their snobbery lasted almost the entire series.

6. Couldn't care for her. Didn't think she was funny. The accent for over the top.

Robert California was awful for the show. Worst move the show ever made. That coupled with Andy as manager made season 8 by far the worst season of The Office.

Season one was just really trying to establish the adaptation of the show to America. A lot of the gags were rehashed from the UK series, so it didn't really have its own personality or tone, yet.

Michael was more Brent-ish than Scott-ish. It laid a foundation, and then season two started fleshing out the unique characters and tone and it caught its stride.

I actually just saw the last 3 episodes this month. I didn't know it ended with everything neatly tied up in a knot, so to speak. Good ending.

Andy up until the wall punch was funny, tuna. He was terrible after especially the post Michael seasons.

Hated Andy's character the whole series. Honestly I just think Ed Helms is a little too over the top-Jim Carreyish to have even been on the show when then humor is more about the dialogue and subtlety. I thought Jim was funny at first but like others 9 years of continued gooey isn't he cute shite with Pam and acting like he's better than everybody got old pretty quick for me. Some episodes I saw the other day that I loved were when Charles (Idris Elba) shows up and makes Jim look like an idiot.

This happens far more often than people remember. Jim and Pam were frequently the target of some of the cruelest jabs from the writers.

People talk about how "Scott's Tots" is all-time cringe but forget "Night Out" when Jim gets everyone locked in the parking lot and can't remember Hank's name, which literally makes my skin crawl.

Or when Jim walks in on the daycare guy taking a shite. Or when Jim had to hand feed Dwight to keep the baby quiet. Or when Pam gets put on the Losers list and has to watch Jim go to lunch without her. Or when she flunks out of art school.

There were entire story arcs dedicated to how Jim (co-manager) and Pam (salesman) were terrible at jobs with increased responsibility...

Not sure what OP was getting at. The first season is great and I've never really heard anyone who is a fan of the show say otherwise. I was easily under the impression the consensus was wide spread love of the first season. Show was sort finding out who it was so the tone is a little different from the rest, but it's very funny.

Andy became a caricature IMO. I really do not like his character.

By the last few seasons they all had.

Kevin and Angela and such, they were all semi-believable as people with quirks early on. By the end of the show they WERE their quirks. Sadly that happens with long running shows and in movie sequels. Characters morph into caricatures.

Almost all super popular shows naturally decline before they end but the final 2 seasons of The Office are absolute garbage.

Show should have ended it when Michael left. It was already started to get creeky around that time anyway.

Roy and Dwight both punked the hell out of Jim. For a guy who is like 6'4 210+...Jim is kind of a soft bitch. Especially considering he literally instigated both of those encounters.

Same with Kevin. He started off as the incompetent fat guy and got dumber and dumber each season. He was basically mentally challenged by the end. Still hilarious though

I’ve seen many Office threads in which people didn’t hold Season 1 in high regard.

The show’s biggest mistake was marrying Jim and Pam (although Michael’s speech is one of tGOAT office moments). It removed such a huge, fundamental plot line from the series and replaced it with the Jim the a-hole/Pam the bitch mundane marriage dynamic.

Jim and Pam were both fricking losers with delusions of grandeur that took out their insecurities on those around them.

I agree. There was no reason to rush their wedding either. they went from secretly dating to married too quickly

I have read that the writers weren't sure if the show would have another season. They wrote the wedding episodes in such a way as they could stand for finales if they had to.

But she was a great painter.

One of the most underrated moments in the Office...first that she exhibited these watercolors - and one was a stapler.

But how Michael saves her ego...by being Michael.
