I think that having Mance was one of the truthful parts of the letter. He obviously lied about Stannis since he wants Theon, but I'm assuming he does indeed have Mance. It would be quite difficult for Mance to have escaped Winterfell, but we can't tell without having seen Mance in combat. I really hope we get some Mance POVs

I'd say it's definitely possible. And intriguing that Abel is an anagram for Bael.
