I had never heard of this but decided to check it out and it's actually a pretty good film.
quote:

Jules follows Milton (Ben Kingsley) who lives a quiet life of routine in a small western Pennsylvania town, but finds his day upended when a UFO and its extra-terrestrial passenger crash land in his backyard. Before long, Milton develops a close relationship with the extra-terrestrial he calls "Jules." Things become complicated when two neighbors (Harriet Sansom Harris and Jane Curtin) discover Jules and the government quickly closes in. What follows is a funny, wildly inventive ride as the three neighbors find meaning and connection later in life -- thanks to this unlikely stranger.

Id avoid the trailer if you plan on watching but here it is anyway

2023?

Betting there’s a reason I’ve never even heard of it before now.

Not sure why someone downvoted you.

Box office was only $2 million.

There WAS a box office? Huh.

Seen movies like this done plenty of times…

Starman
Cocoon
K Pax
Paul

Maybe it’s decent but it’s giving off strong fanfic vibes, Despite Ben Kingsley ??

I've never seen any of those so can't compare it.

The alien isn't really the main character in the movie.

It's more about the elderly and loneliness/dementia.

I don't really wanna spoil anything and honestly I think I enjoyed it more having not watched the trailer before watching it.

Kingsley was good

Wow, really? And *I'm* the one who gets branded for not seeing anything, but then having my opinion handed to me via YouTube.

I could also added *'The man who fell to Earth', 'The day the Earth stood still', and yes, even "ET. The Extra Terrestrial" All based on similar concepts of aliens arriving on Earth, only to find help from a caring soul who has to keep the alien safe, hidden from the govt while they wait for fellow aliens to come rescue him. And yes, add Resident Alien to the list too.

*SciFi novel from 1963, film starring David Bowie (1976), Amazon Prime show (2022)
