Daniel Day is the best of whatever generation still alive for There Will Be Blood alone

But I'm playing devil's advocate because I've thrown Joaquin out there as being in the conversation for sure

Between the harelip and the caved in chest he's tough to look at. Just a really odd appearance.

He's definitely up there. Her, and The Master are his best performances, IMO.

Phoenix was 24 years old at the time of filming when he played Commodus in Gladiator. Think about that.

Gladiator came out in 2000, There will be blood came out in 2007. So what exactly is your generation?

My Left Foot made him famous but Gangs Of New York and There Will Be Blood are what everyone immediately thinks of with his performances.

Also would’ve been a good title for the movie.

I will not disagree … Christian Bale has to be in the top 4 list for me.

Phoenix’s performance in The Master is one of the best of I’ve seen. Same with DDL in There Will be Blood. A testament to Paul Thomas Anderson.
