If the Ritual of Chud isn’t included in some way, then the movie(s) can never truly compare to the book. If you haven’t read the book, a very minimal synopsis of the Ritual of Chud is presented in the link below.

The book is not in chronological order. The way it's written, the novel takes place in the present day (at least the present day when King originally published it) with flashback chapters to when the Losers took on It the first time as children in the 50s.

I hope that we get more personality from Pennywise in this one. The only thing I felt was lacking in chapter 1 was that he was in full on monster form too much. Of course nothing can top Tim Curry, but even aside from Curry’s dialog and performance, part of what made the movie so scary was seeing Pennywise in scenes where he wasn’t trying to kill the kids, just scare them.

I am too scared to watch the first or second at least for now. I read that crazy book and I don't think I can handle a movie. Call me a wuss. Perhaps I'll try to work up to IT.
