I was going to defend Independence Day as great, goofy fun, but because of the new obvious troll who is obvious, I can't bring myself to do it.

The problem I have is this; whenever he begins to explain his abduction, EVERYONE in the scene (other pilots, officers and even the president are still fvcking rolling their eyes and shaking their heads with skepticism in the background. They are in the middle of a war with aliens who clearly had been visiting Earth for decades. Does that bother anyone else?

It bothers me more that the President flies a jet into the battle. Seriously, who the frick would have let him fly that thing?

This entire board was built on that concept. If you don't think this, get the frick out!

The sad thing is, he probably revels in the idea that people pay enough attention to him to hate him.

I could never be as pathetic as you, because you actually care how people feel about you on an internet message board.

You are the epitome of pathetic.

Funny, that's what your mother said when she shat you out of her womb.

Ohhh, bravo. Seriously "Thats what your mom said" are always the best and most creative jokes. It really takes a creative genius to think of it. Kudos to you and you are a comic genius. You've earned this recognition my friend, you've earned it.

Imagine how much your praise doesn't mean to me.

Then again that's higher thinking than you are capable.

But anywho, for the sake of future threads, you don't comment to me, I don't comment to you.

Can you manage up some maturity to agree to that?

Agree, good point. Lot of over-acting in that one too.

No. Vivica Fox managed to escape the alien ship's blast by going into an open closet. It's a stupid movie if you start to think about it.

How does that not make sense? She got into a "closet" (as you call it), which was a room inside the tunnel (a.k.a. surrounded by concrete) as the fireball thing blew by her. It makes sense, and doesn't seem like that big of a stretch.

Also, GarnetLantern is 100% GamecockAlum, and he's banned.

The fireball was moving horizontally through the tunnel as a result of it's blast being contained against the tunnel walls, therefore it clearly would have filled in any crevice positioned within it's outer boundary..........

Would it? Cuz that's something that occurs in movies all the time, and people don't really seem to care about it. I'm no physics major, but it makes enough sense to me that it doesn't bother me.

no idea - but I have realized that any further analysis of a single scene in this movie is done in vain.

Also, they do shut the door, maintaining the integrity of the outer boundry. I don't have a huge problem with it, as it falls neatly in the "running away from explosions" exception which exists in most action movies. Physics in action movies are different than in the real world, in which no one outruns explosions.

Going against my own advice here, but I don't believe the door was closed. The courageous dog leaps in Vivica's arms as the inferno rolls past the open janitor closet doorway
