Women typically reach their peak at 27 to 28. Garr was certainly at/approaching that peak in this film.
Beauty, as you say, is subjective.
Grace Kelly in The Swan would be my candidate - she's playing a princess in the film, and she was about to retire from Hollywood to be a princess IRL - and she 100% looked the part. She was also in that 26 range making these last films (The Swan and High Society)
If anything, Teri Garr (and again, very beautiful in Young Frankenstein) had more of a "girl next door vibe" - Grace Kelly, and my second candidate, Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca (also in that 26-27 year old range, not coincidentally) - were almost too pretty, impossibly pretty that you thought they might not be real.

bergman was a dime. but it would be hard for me to narrow a film down for her.
i have a lot of love for claudia cardinale in once upon a time in the west, but the distance between her and garr is insurmountable

Bergman was one of the first that comes to mind.

I don't think Teri Garr wins the title for that... but let me tell you something... chick was seriously fine.
One of the all-time underrated beauties of the 70's and 80's. And beyond that, a very cool person, too.

Cardinale blows away Garr when comparing her from OUATIW to Young Frankenstein. But Garr was definitely smoking in that role, I'd definitely go for a roll in the hay with her.

Yeah - I don't even get her being mentioned in this thread with the greats.
Sophia Loren, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Gene Tierney, Frances Farmer, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Bissett, Lauren Bacall.
The only modern actresses that should even be in this discussion are gals like Zeta-Jones, Jolie (although it would have to be early, like Gia), maybe Portman - but it's hard to grab a role that fits for her.
I mean, Theron has always reminded me of what Diaz would look like, if Diaz were "pretty".
Diaz? -

Another good one - great body, too.
And, what do you know, Rita was 27-28 in Gilda.
Science...

Funny you mention this...I watched this a few months ago and said the same thing. She looked fantastic in that movie. Probably had something to do with the cleavage and innocent accent.

Now she is.
She sure in the hell wasn't in The Mask

There are some really good ones in this thread. Bergman gets my nod.

Teri is surely very hot in that one but she doesn't come close to Jane Seymour in Live and Let Die

Almost unrankable except Audrey is always #1
