I didn't know that we were debating "best loser". .

We weren't, but the GOATs should be best at something. DDL would be Historical Figures for example. Try to relax.

I liked him as a young henchman in The Getaway with Alec Baldwin.

Was gonna say he’s far and away the best villain the MI series ever had. And then he turns around and has one of the better comedic roles of the early aughts in Along Came Polly. Dude just had it.

Maybe it's because he's so good at it, but when he's playing the loser type or just ...."off" a la Magnolia , it's hard for me to watch.

Knocks it out of the park in Something About Polly. Wish he'd done more comedy.

But no one has ever made me feel the combination of sympathy and disgust that Lemmon did in Glengarry. His scenes with the main cast were phenomenal, and he had 100% of my interest whenever he was on screen.

Agreed, I'm not typically keeping score on acting points when watching a movie but there are two acting performances for me that jumped off the screen as memorable and great acting performances - Lemmon in Glengarry and Mary Tyler Moore in Ordinary People.
