I think BB was more plot driven than character driven.
I do agree with you that some of the stuff in the first half of season 5 was awful. The train robbery was the worst.

While the 2nd watch is highly enjoyable, and almost comparable, I see no way one could enjoy the 2nd watch as much as the 1st because of the lack of anticipation.
No series has had me on the edge of my seat and wondering what happens next quite like this one.
Case in point, Schrader in the parking lot with the twins and their axes.

Not for me. There aren't many TV-watching experiences I can imagine the will top watching Breaking Bad as it aired from the beginning, devoid of any over-sized hype, spoilers or expectations. It was such an engaging and brilliant show when it was still fresh.

I found it pretty doggone good on the second watch - caught a lot of stuff too that I'd missed the first go round.

Just finished watching all 5 seasons in 2 weeks. (I'm on my summer break). I put off watching it for a while because I thought I was way too far behind to catch one (which is correct). Just finished up last night and I heard it is even better the second time around. Probably going to start round 2 after the CWS. Show was PHENOMENAL. I wish the rumors of a 6th season were true.
