You hate too much on that movie. Must have been the build up someone gave you because it is not a terrible movie. To me, it wasn't great but it didn't suck.
It's definitely a movie that appeals to viewers that appreciate movies for their aesthetic configuration. I would venture to say most of the people that gave Drive a very high rating would be inclined to appreciate the works of directors like Terrance Malick and David Lean.
Therefore, if you liked The Tree of Life, you'll like Drive.
