Except from the pilot episode on, "Angel 6" referred to herself as an angel from God for Gaius. Definitely didn't enjoy the finale (or the last two seasons) like I did the first two, but the idea of divine intervention ran from the very first episode to the last.

well without Galactica - it wouldnt have mattered - I think it was more that they decided to just settle - if the Cylons showed up, there really wasn't much else they could do.
