I really liked it. I went into it not expecting anything, which is the perfect way to watch ANY movie. Made me a fan of the books, thought Cruise was the perfect man for the job. Except in the books, Reacher is like 6-5, 250, not 5-6, 180

Cruise's size was way off but he pulled off Reacher's persona really well. Just started reading the books and I hope we see more of them become movies.

Cruise has the intensity of Reacher, but also pulled off his confident swagger really well. Rosamund Pike is like 5-9. Mr. Cruise has a very clever wardrobe department in the shoe area.

I had read three of the books when I heard Cruise had bought the rights. I fricking cringed. It's not just the size (although that's a big deal because of the effect it has in the books). It's also the fact that Tom Cruise and every character he's ever played is sooooo far from Jack Reacher that I can't suspend disbelief. And I'm not saying Cruise isn't a decent actor. Just saying it's an ego thing on his part, doesn't fit the character and I can't dig it.

I might feel differently about his performance if I had read the novels first, so I know what you're saying. The mental image of my Jack Reacher is just a really tall Tom Cruise.
