How does Sgt. Rock directed by Luca Guadagnino make sense?

Queer
Challengers
Bones and All
Suspira
Call Me By Your Name
Some good movies in there, if you like boundary-pushing sexual dramas. While I like the idea of DC going outside the box and all, what on earth is Guadagnino going to do with Sgt. Rock? Why would it interest him? Weird that the trades are acting like this is normal, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
