All I know is Seinfeld’s interview with Larry King after the finale was gold.

Larry David believed that he and Jerry Seinfeld had no more stories to tell, and advised Seinfeld to turn down the order, but Seinfeld agreed to the additional episodes.

And that's when they realized it was a show about nothing.

That's when they began to mine their writers for quirky stories from their lives, which resulted in an annual turnover in writers as they needed more and more.

That pretty much sums up the whole “show about nothing” concept.
seinfeld was never a show about nothing. Jerry was a show about nothing. Seinfeld was originally supposed to be about how Jerry got his comic material, which is why the lead in stand up comedy is always related to the show plot. Larry David has said this numerous times.

Once Kramer’s role grew and they incorporated Elaine it gave the show more scope to go outside the Jerry-George banter. Then all the auxiliary characters came into the picture.

And Alexander admitted he was just doing a lazy Woody Allen impression.

And it shows. Once he evolved into the final George the show hit hyperdrive.
