Princess and the Frog was a window into the past glory of Disney animation-cell movies like Lion King and Aladdin and the musical numbers were some of the best. If the stereotype thing irked you that much I wonder how you felt about Mulan & Pochahantas?

If they wanted to bring back hand drawn films, having a black princess movie was a sure fire way to ensure they would never make anymore. Execs can now use the poor numbers to say hand drawn is no longer a draw.
