My personal favorite is Nathaniel Poe in Mohicans, but I think his best work is Bill the Butcher.

His character in Gangs of New York is one of my favorite movie characters of all time. Ruthless and captivating.

In the Name of the Father, My Left Foot, Last of the Mohicans, Gangs of New York, There Will be Blood, Lincoln, The Boxer. There literally is no movie that he isn't good in. Greatest actor ever. Really wish he would have been in more movies than he has, but I respect that.

Bill the Butcher followed closely by Daniel Plainview.

Two of my favorite quotes:
"I don't give a tuppenny frick about your moral conundrum, you meat-headed shite-sack. That's more or less the thing. And I want you to go out there... You, nobody else. None of your little minions. I want you to go out there. And I want you to punish the person who's responsible for murdering this poor little rabbit. "

and

"We speak English in this country. Whose man are you? You see this knife? I'm gonna teach you to speak English with this fricking knife."

I agree, his role in that movie has stuck with me from the first time I saw it as a kid on tv.

I always wish DDL would lighten up for a minute and take a RDJ in Tropic Thunder type of role.
